Rain happens and it does not have to ruin your marriage proposal! My team and I work to be as accommodating as we can to offer options in the case of rain. One option is shifting the date of the proposal or the time. Another option is choosing a covered spot like under neath one of the arches such as the Trellis arch or inside The Bethesda Terrace. That said there are trade off here in that when it rains often many people visiting the park also tuck under these arches for shelter. Option 3 is proposing in the rain (light rain that is not a heavy downpour)
What do I do if I have my proposal planned and it rains? Will we still get good Photos?
Frequently Asked Questions
While permits can create a feeling of security they unfortunately do not provide much and end up being flimsy documents. Unfortunately we have tried applying for a permit over and over and never hear back from the city. So we advise only doing proposals with decor at of less busy hours in the park.
Do I need a permit to propose with decorations in Brooklyn Bridge Park?
This really depends on a few factors... Is this your first time visiting NYC? Are you a local in NYC? This makes in a big difference in where I would advise you proposing. I would highly suggest a planning call to go over options!
Where is the best place to propose in Brooklyn Bridge Park?
- Best lighting
- Least amount of passerbys
- Your personal plan for your day and schedule
For any proposal with decorations the best time is either on a weekday around sunset or on weekends the morning or late evening.
For proposals without decorations sunset is generally the best time, that said I would avoid weekends at sunset because the crowds are
next level!
For engagement portraits crowds are a bit less of an issue since you are not having to worry about the surprise element and so the location
within the park is more flexible.

How do I make sure my partner is surprised?
The best way to avoid the crowds is to propose in the morning or later in the evening. The sunset time while gorgeous is the most crowded. If you really desire to have a sunset proposal with skyline views I highly recommend doing our Private Rooftop Package instead.
